Joanna Painton-Hathaway is the Chief Compliance Officer at Gracepoint Treatment Center, bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience in behavioral healthcare, substance use disorder treatment, and co-occurring mental health services. She oversees regulatory compliance, quality improvement, risk management, and performance improvement initiatives across Gracepoint’s continuum of care, including Day Night, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient services.
Joanna has extensive expertise in Joint Commission accreditation, Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) regulations, Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR) standards, HIPAA compliance, and utilization review. She collaborates closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, and operational staff to ensure that Gracepoint consistently meets and exceeds regulatory and accreditation requirements, while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
Prior to her role at Gracepoint, Joanna served in multiple Clinical Director and executive leadership positions, where she led multidisciplinary teams, developed and implemented clinical operations, supervised licensed and unlicensed clinicians, and authored policies and procedures aligned with state and federal regulations. She has played a key role in securing and maintaining Joint Commission accreditation and FARR certification, including compliance for Day/Night programming and community housing.
Joanna holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. She is a Master’s Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP), Certified Recovery Residence Administrator (CRRA), and trained in Rapid Resolution Therapy. Her leadership is grounded in a patient-centered philosophy, a strong culture of safety, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement in behavioral healthcare.
