Karen Berk

MRI Therapist

I am an MRI-Based Attachment Therapist, Trauma Specialist and Somatic Practitioner with a focus on generational, relational and epigenetic dynamics. My work draws from a rich blend of modalities including Polyvagal Theory, Inner Child work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused models, Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families, and Coactive Coaching. My credentials include a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, CAC – Certified Addiction Counselor, ICADC – Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CRRA – Certified Residence Recovery Administrator.

With these frameworks, I help individuals explore and identify attachment patterns, emotional injuries, behavioral habits, and inner dialogues that may no longer serve them. My goal is to bring conscious awareness to the internal world so that meaningful, sustainable change can occur—always honoring the uniqueness of each client’s life journey.

As a child and grandchild of Holocaust survivors, I have a deeply personal understanding of transgenerational trauma transmission and family dysfunction. My own healing journey has informed my professional path, and I bring that embodied insight into every session. These invisible wounds often manifest as anxiety, depression, communication struggles, low self-worth, relationship conflict, and addictive patterns. I work with clients to address the root causes beneath the surface symptoms.

I serve individuals, couples, and families, and strive to create a space of emotional safety and curiosity where deep healing becomes possible. I’m especially passionate about helping clients learn to regulate their nervous systems and cultivate self-compassion.

In my work, I integrate a signature technique of guided inner work developed through years of practice. I’ve also studied Rapid Resolution Therapy and NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) Therapy, adding further depth to my trauma-informed approach.

My background includes several years in Addiction Treatment, where I refined my skills in helping clients reclaim their lives from dependency. In couples work, I use Gottman assessments, Relational Life Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Principles to foster healthier communication and relational clarity.

Above all, I’m committed to walking alongside clients with authenticity, warmth, and respect. I am also a proud mother, and this role continues to deepen my empathy and understanding of the human experience.
